Schools in Sub-saharan Africa were already dealing with inadequate teaching and learning materials for teachers and students as well as the absence much-technology in the classroom. For instance, teachers spend so much time dictating notes to students or writing notes on chalkboards for students to copy into their notebooks. Our research has shown that teachers can teach three to five times as fast as they currently do if they could simply send their lesson notes to students digitally. The absence of technology such as smartboards as well as screens, projectors and also prevents teachers from incorporating digital teaching materials like simulations and animations to deepen student understanding of concepts taught.
The advent of the coronavirus pandemic has revealed the inadequacies of Africa’s educational systems and has rendered many incapable of learning and growing academically. This interruption in teaching and learning is due to the absence of strong technological systems to support teaching and learning in our schools.
The Brainwek Learning Managing System takes the features of advanced Learning Management Systems like Sakai, Blackboard and Canvas and compresses them into a mobile-first platform with cutting edge-bandwidth management and internet access features. The result is a modern Learning Management System adapted to Africa’s needs to help Schools, Tutor Groups and Private Tutors to deliver the much-needed tuition to our vulnerable kids during this pandemic and beyond.
